Meta confirmed on April 21, 2026 that it is the company behind Project Anthem — the $1 billion AI data center under construction at Fair Oaks Innovation Park in east Tulsa. The facility spans more than 2 million square feet and is expected to be completed in 2028. At peak construction, approximately 1,000 workers will be on site. Meta is partnering with Tulsa Tech and Tulsa Community College to support workforce development in the trades that will build and ultimately maintain the facility.
Project Anthem is the first data center built within Tulsa city limits and Meta’s first Oklahoma facility. The project has been exempted from Tulsa’s temporary moratorium on new data center construction, meaning construction proceeds without regulatory interruption through completion.
Meta’s comparable facility in the Kansas City metro drew an average of 1,500 skilled trade workers at construction peak. Those workers needed housing. In markets where furnished whole-home crew housing was available and positioned correctly, local operators captured that demand. In markets where it wasn’t, crews defaulted to extended stay hotels at significantly higher per-person cost.
The Tulsa situation is analogous. Approximately 1,000 specialty trade workers — electricians, civil crews, mechanical contractors, communications infrastructure teams — will cycle through the Project Anthem site over the 2026-2028 construction period. Many will come from outside Oklahoma for defined scopes of work ranging from 60 to 180 days. Those crews need furnished housing within practical commute range of the site.
HeyStay does not currently operate properties directly in east Tulsa. The closest HeyStay inventory is in Broken Arrow — 2 properties approximately 20-25 minutes from the Project Anthem site via the Creek Turnpike. Midtown Tulsa properties are approximately 25-30 minutes. These commute times are workable for most construction crews and significantly shorter than the equivalent distance would be in larger metros.

The practical guidance: match the housing location to the family’s community, not just the city. A family in Owasso should be housed in Owasso or within reasonable distance of it. Their children are in Owasso schools. Their doctors are in Owasso. Their routines are in Owasso. Placing them in South Tulsa because a property was available there imposes a 25-mile daily commute on top of a family already managing a displacement crisis.
